I feel you, and I was up trying to find anyone who went through the same thing I just did.

I just left my purse in a drugstore bathroom late last night because I was talking on my cellphone (which I usually hang up and call back after I use the restroom). I had gotten home and taken a shower for bed before I had discovered my purse was gone. Thank God the store was open 24 hours. I had to call the store and the man that answered went in the bathroom and said he had found it in the trash. He told me he'd hold it and gave me his name until I got there. I got there and it seemed my purse was untouched and the same weight (my purse is always pretty heavy with change and other junk. The worker told me some guy had told him to "look in the trash" when he went to retrieve my purse. He even told me to check my purse right there and also told me a sad but comforting story how he had left his wallet somewhere and got it back with no money inside. I checked my purse and saw that the wallet had seemed unharmed and the credit cards and things were still there. I sighed and felt better as I went to my car, but when I checked my wallet again at my house, I realized the cash had been yanked from the little compartment in the wallet that I failed to check while at the store because I was assuming nothing had been touched. I was PISSED. It could have been that worker guy with the story about his "wallet", or the faceless guy that told him to look in the garbage. Or maybe the "customer" that was at the register when I barged in there asking for my purse. I don't know who it was, but I was pissed.

All I know is when I phoned the store, the man answered with the usual "Thank you for calling CVS pharmacy, this is [Bob], may I help you.." deal and when I told him my issue, I heard another man in the background asking, "Did I pay for that?" and the worker and the man in the background both began laughing. So just knowing that I was staring at the potential theives and THANKING them for keeping my purse is what makes me mad...

The only thing I can think now is that it could have been a lot worse -- no purse at all, no credit cards, ID's etc... but I'm just angry that people do not have common sense enough to believe what goes around comes around....
