February 10, 2006In the Philippines, the carabao is the native water buffalo, producing meat and milk, in addition to being a work animal.
Steps are being taken to clone a superior buffalo that will give more milk. The dairy carabao gives about 8 liters a day. Researchers are hopeful that their super buffalo’s output will be closer to that of some animals in India, whose daily production reaches 35 liters.
