cloning a water buffalo

In the Philippines, the carabao is the native water buffalo, producing meat and milk, in addition to being a work animal.

Steps are being taken to clone a superior buffalo that will give more milk. The dairy carabao gives about 8 liters a day. Researchers are hopeful that their super buffalo’s output will be closer to that of some animals in India, whose daily production reaches 35 liters.

However, since November in New Forest, Hampshire, six of them are there one minute, gone the next. No trails. They can weigh almost a ton each, so rustling them could prove quite daunting.

Police are puzzled. No doubt the water buffalo are tired of the game. Unless they are behind it all.

rethinking New Orleans: hurricane proofing

Bracing the city for a possible future Category 5 hurricane means taking a good look at some innovative solutions. They include air-filled flood gates, amphibious houses, and replacing canals with an underground drainage system.
