dinner and a movie: The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill
January 7, 2006Dinner at Cafe Riace. My companions had the steak and cannelloni, while I had the osso buco once again. We chose the tented outdoor area, and on a January night, my son ate in a t-shirt, having removed his jacket due to the very efficient heaters. My other son, the one who told us about the restaurant, was not able to make it. We left him at home eating from a bag of cold potstickers, looking a little forlorn.
We first heard and saw the wild parrots years ago near Orchard Supply. Sometimes we get a small flock of them in the neighborhood, but they don’t stick around long. They have an unmistakable call. Which probably irritates the resident ravens, jays, and mockingbirds, not to mention the hawks.
The movie was quite good, but we were too full for popcorn.
