A bear has been spotted in Switzerland recently, which is surprisng since bears have been extinct there for over 100 years. To keep from being attacked, hikers are advised to sing selections from the Sound of Music.
Since hikers have been singing, there has been no sign of the bear.
Now, yodeling is a national pastime. Might this not be more appropriate?

As would we all.
Even though it is going to be hot today, the soup will be just the thing for my mom, who was released from the hospital yesterday. The cake is to make up for all the Jello she had to endure while she was there.
One of my neighbors feeds pigeons. Last year, they made a habit of gathering on my roof, and I made a habit of rushing out to hose them down. Then they took a liking to my lawn.
I admit that their circling the roofs is a lovely sight, lovelier still if they didn’t mess up my car windshield so badly.
Eventually, they got the idea. For months, they stayed away. This morning I woke to the unmistakable sound of many feet on the roof. The resident hawks need to develop a taste for pigeon meat.
The little black-headed birds are still in the yard, trailed by their young. I’ve not had time to look up what they are, but the young are much bigger than the parents, and don’t look like them. They still use their hunger cry from their nest days, and are clumsy when they fly. The poor parents are frantically looking everywhere for food to quiet the big babies. I wonder if some larger bird left eggs in their nest. Time to get out the Sibley’s guide.
