the most dangerous tree in the world

The manchineel grows in the Caribbean and in Central America. I came across a reference to it in The Poisoned Weed by Donald G. Crosby. The sap was used by the Carib Indians to poison their arrows, and to contaminate their enemies’ water. Prisoners were tied under the tree to endure the painful blisters that resulted from dew or rain dripping off its leaves.
