dinner prep in progress

Fries are being fried. Steaks are being rubbed with a granulated garlic mix. The salad is made. Ice cream has been made. Onion rings have been scrapped till I feel better.

Moth, by Ann Yohn

A poem .

mothwings

I know I’m not fully recovered from that nasty flu, and I don’t like to use out-of-focus photos. And it’s hard to take a picture with a large, vibrating insect on your finger. But there it is.

dinner and a movie

The diehard Walken fans will be home, so the movie will be Around the Bend, which I don’t mind seeing again. There will be steaks, home fries, salad, maybe the onion rings I didn’t fix last weekend, and cheesecake for dessert.

sand dune sounds

Why dunes make the sounds they do, and the best way to hear them. More information here , with locations of dune sites in California and Nevada.

appetite suppressant

On the way in to Costco, I happened to see a man stop as he and his family were loading up his car, and empty out the contents of his nostrils there in the parking lot. There’s a name for this kind of nose-blowing, but I forget what it is.

Jeff comments:

Snot rockets!!!

Thank you, Jeff. Never, not even in a thousand years, would I have thought of that.

Saucy comments:

Gross! I think it’s called a “farmer’s blow.”

That makes sense. Yes, I thought it was gross too, that he would do it in front of everyone walking by.

it would rather starve

The little moth (not the one pictured earlier) is the first thing to emerge alive after spending a night with the mantis. If I can’t find much for it to eat today, I may have to go with the baby crickets, which I don’t mind as a food. What I mind is the potential for the crickets to get loose.
