a bucket of cream

May 12, 2005

That’s roughly how much whipping cream I bought tonight in order to make more ice cream tomorrow. There is a bowlful of finely chopped chocolate destined for the ganache that I did not find time to make. The plan goes like this: Make the ganache, and while it cools, make a batch of vanilla ice cream. Chill the ice cream so it is a little less runny. Swirl in some ganache, but not too much. While that is chilling to a more frigid state, go find a movie, something fairly mindless, but entertaining, maybe Ocean’s 12. George Clooney. He’s supposedly the top pick if the next Bond is from this side of the pond, but you already knew that.

two mice

In honor of the newly discovered rodent, even though it bears only one offspring at a time, unlike the heroes of this story . Because there is a ham, some lobsters, some fruit, and a pudding, kind of. But mostly because it’s bedtime, and if there is someone small in your household who is overly tired, maybe this story will help.

Bonus point: I got in a movie reference.

night walk

Going around a track is safer but less fun than the dark sidewalk route. What started as a 20-minute walk turned into an hour, mostly due to the subject matter, which was Bay Area real estate.

unpleasant side effect: death

It has been found that the non-heart drugs listed here can cause sudden cardiac death.

One of the drugs is erythromycin, which is prescribed when a patient is allergic to penicillin, and needs an antibiotic. I’ve taken my share over the years.

Giant burger eaten by three men (guys the size of six or seven men) in record time. For charity, of course.

a shot of sparkle plenty

An astounding story is made all the more suspicious by a certain lack of detail. How did he agree to a syringe full of the offending material if he knew what it was? Why is he not dead?
