Now here’s something I’d like to try. Full of good things like calcium, protein, amino acids, vitamin C, zinc, magnesium. Wonder what it tastes like.
I get readers from all over. Could someone send me some? Kangaroo meat too, but I’ll pass on the natto. Maybe I’ll have a contest with food prizes.

But it’s flawed, one corner bent back, as we found when we opened the box. Back it goes. This was Lowe’s, first time I’ve been to one - we stood back in awe after entering. The parking area is so big that finding an exit is a challenge, but the Costco loomed up, and seemed twice as big as the ones closer to home. Did we look at Costco microwaves? I don’t remember, all the appliance sections look alike after awhile. However, Lowe’s had a formidable side-by-side fridge/freezer that looked like two silver vaults. All it needed was a big round thing to rotate in the middle. And a bank-sized kitchen.

Not widely available in the U.S., kangaroo meat has high levels of CLA or conjugated linoleic acid , found to be a valuable disease-fighting fat.
Here are the cuts , illustrated. Australia exports the meat to more than 55 countries, but I’ve never seen any here.

When I couldn’t identify the rather alarming-looking spider discovered under a flowerpot last week, I contacted Dr. Charles Griswold, Curator of Arachnology at the California Academy of Sciences. He assures me that it is Steatoda (family Theridiidae), a harmless house spider that eats insects.
Now I will release the spider from the jar, and reunite it with what appears to be a large egg sac at its former home.
Pictures can be seen here , (scroll down) along with the information that it is in the same family as the black widow.
Thanks, Dr. Griswold!

California delta fish numbers decline tremendously, and their main food source, as well.
What’s to blame? Possibly toxic farmland runoffs or invasive species, but nothing conclusive yet.

Food sources that thrive where regular livestock cannot, that eat table scraps, and will help cut the use of pesticides by a considerable amount - these are already in place elsewhere.
Many cultures include insects in their diet. The squeamish could consider that a lot of insects have a plant diet, while lobsters, crabs, and other bottom-dwelling sea life eat the often unspeakable detritus of the sea floor. Recent news of questionable feed given to cattle and farmed salmon have made the average consumer wary of the pitfalls of modern protein sources.
While we won’t be encountering grilled locust cakes served with a bee larvae reduction, or even katydid salad at the local bistro, the world food problem looms large.
I always did want a taste of Jeremy Fisher’s butterfly sandwich.

First, the elephants show up at the restaurant in South Korea. Then, in Baltimore, the bison look for fresh grazing grounds. A mountain lion in San Jose, Ca., where the animals are appearing regularly in surrounding communities.
Now, in New Delhi , where cows have been tolerated, police are whipping out their stun guns. What next?

When all the hooha about the Hamburg toads dies down, perhaps consideration will be given to renaming the poor creatures after the Greek Titan Prometheus , whose torment was delivered by an eagle, not a crow.

Perhaps a shorter list would be ‘what crows don’t eat’. From the information here , now we know what to do with the crumbs at the bottom of the potato chip bag and the pizza crusts.
The author of the site also discusses the language of crows with accompanying sonograms.

They build a 46-foot steel tower , then expect the competitors to race up and grab as many pork buns as possible. Part of the bun festival in Hong Kong. The base of the tower is padded, though probably not with buns.
Something like this would add some novelty to our ever-popular eating contests. Works up the appetite.

Brighter than the sun? Is that possible? From Wired News. Hurry, offer limited to military and only a small run for ordinary citizens.
It would certainly make my night walks more interesting.
